sherstone > "Coombs Color"

We start at Coombs, BC. These cloth lanterns are hanging all over the ceiling in the market. This famous goats on the roof market, is located on Vancouver Island just West of Qualicum Beach.
sherstone > "waiting for dinner"

As I was waiting outside the market for the shopping to be done, this rabbit decided I wasn't scary enough and came right up behind me to look for grass to nibble on.
sherstone > "goats on the roof"

Here is what makes the Coombs Old Country Market so unique. These goats live up on the grass covered roof of the market.
sherstone > "decrepit double deckers"

A little down the road from Coombs market is a feild with about 16 of these double decker busses that look to be originally from England.

They have been there for years and I am assuming they will be there for several more. Not sure why they are there but they sure make for an interesting picture.
sherstone > "waiting for land"

Here we are on the ferry to Horseshoe Bay which is on the mainland North East of Vancouver. The trip across the water takes about 90 minutes, but you usually have to wait about an hour before loading. It's normal to be waiting and travelling via the ferry for anywhere from 3 to 4 hours.
sherstone > "looking back"

Still on the ferry, here is a shot looking back towards Nanaimo.
sherstone > "enjoying the sailing"

Here you can see that people take advantage of the nice weather while on the ferry. The decks are quite open and on nice days you will find people doing anything from sun tanning to smoking. The ferry is designed so that it does not have to turn around at each port so there is a front and a back that look virtually the same.
This is the back for this sailing.
sherstone > "I'm coming Mom"

Here we see people enjoying the view and calling home to their family telling them that they will arrive soon, (or so I am imagining anyway).
sherstone > "Lions Gate Vancouver"

After docking and leaving the ferry we continue along the Trans Canada Highway along the coast, driving past the downtown core of Vancouver. This is a view from a lookout point on Cypress Bowl Road, just off of the highway.
sherstone > "bridge to the big city"

A closer look from the same lookout. The Lions Gate Bridge that leads to the core is skirted by a 1,000 acre park called Stanley Park. I didn't have time to venture down to see it again, but my favorite haunt there is Third Beach, hidden among the trees, a gem to find.
sherstone > "Chilliwack moon rise"

After leaving the big city behind we drove through a rural setting. Here we see Mount Baker Lit by the setting sun as the moon rises to greet the night.
sherstone > "Coquihalla Canyon"

Beside the Othello tunnels just 4km. past Hope BC, runs the Coquihalla River. This is the view as seen from the trail that runs through the tunnels.
sherstone > "Othello Glow"

This tunnel curves off to the right. My small tripod is held against the wall on the left to take this shot.
sherstone > "tunnel vision"

You can see three of the tunnels in this picture. The cement entrance has a date from the early 1900's.
sherstone > "othello tunnel parking lot"

Here is the view of our travel van as I came back from my hike through the tunnels.
sherstone > "Fraser River"

The Fraser River – the largest river in British Columbia.
sherstone > The rock by the river. This part of BC is almost desert looking.
sherstone > "Pavillion Lake"

This lake, located in Marble Canyon Provincial Park, contains mysterious underwater formations of coral-like structures, some of which are up to four metres high, up to 11,000 years old. The green color you see here is not a fabrication it really is that green.
sherstone > "name sign"

This sign post was marking the entrance to a road beside Pavillion Lake. It reminds me of one of those directional signs that point you all over the world.
sherstone > "Chasm"

I saw the sign 'Chasm' and wondered, will the scene live up to the name? I think it did. At 8 km's (5 miles) long, 600-metres (1 968 ft.) wide and 300-metres (984 ft.) deep it was worth it to go take a look.
sherstone > "more chasm"

Another view of Chasm. This time we see the right side a little more in perspective.
sherstone > "Williams Lake"

The moon shimmers over Williams Lake, BC.

During this trip I had decided ahead of time that I would drive only during the day so as to maximize shooting time, but there is always a few hours that we ended up trying to find a decent spot to park and bed down.
Here is one of those spots that we were hoping was 'allowed' but alas there was a sign telling us that overnight camping was not allowed. Too bad as this was a nice scene.
sherstone > "foggy field"

An early morning rise revealed a golden sky warming this field still enveloped with fog.
sherstone > "making tracks"

A little farther down the road these tracks caught my attention. We are getting quite close to Quesnel here.
sherstone > "Dragon Place Arabians series 1"

Just before Quesnel you come upon a small ranch right off the main road called 'Dragon Place Arabians'. Here I found a couple young fillies with thier Mothers. Stunningly beautiful horses.

Breakfast time.
sherstone > "Dragon Place Arabians series 3"

Curious but shy.
